Road Trip!

All right. The car is packed, the coolers are packed, all my junk is packed, all Her junk is packed. All we have to do now is pick up her new license plate decal (!?) and then we're heading out. She also wants to stop at the Dillards here, and look for an outfit for the wedding coming up. I love how all this stuff could just wait till the LAST minute. (??!!) As soon as I learn to drive and have a driver's license, I won't be in thrall to these Whims. Ommmm. Ooommmmm. Perhaps I'll stop at McKay's Used Books while she tries on clothes, that way, we can Both procrastinate, and I'll get Books out of it. Yay, Books! (For the record, Ken Grimwood's book, Replay, is making my head spin, so is Starfish, by Peter Watts)

sighs

I'm supposed to be on my way home, but i'm not. Mom and I are staying another night in TN, at dad's house, I spent today ironing napkins(surprisingly meditative)and watching season 1 of The Cleaner. Mmm, Benjamin Bratt, and simple outside of the law justice. I'm still against ironing (or the Need for Ironing) on principle, but there's something nice about working with cotton and steam. The wonderful smell of hot steamed fabric, the black and white certainty of Wrinkled Vs. UnWrinkled, it's got a frightening 1950s valium fogged allure. Once again I promise myself that everything I wear and buy to wear will be non-dry-clean, no iron, shake out and wear, sexy without worry.
On the getting home from Tennessee front, tomorrow mom and I get in the car, and drive, well, four or five hours at least, of the eight to ten hour drive. Then, as I've been informed by Tiny Mommy, she'll be "making some stops" at " a couple" of courthouses, for Geneology purposes. Not ONE virginia courthouse, not even two, but a Couple, or a Few courthouses, each probably at least an hour, somewhere in Virginia. We're not getting home tomorrow night. We might not even get home Thursday night. It all depends on what mom finds, or doesn't find , in which of howEver many courthouses "we" visit. I checked out a pile of books from the Knoxville library, because my MD library books are finished, have been for three days, I read three of my new books yesterday/last night, I have three or four left, but I don't know if I can stretch them two more days, alone, with mom, in Virginia! At a COURTHOUSE. AIEEEE!

I'm drinking green tea, one tea bag to 32 ounces of water, and it's just the pick me up I need, that hint of sweetness.... But I'm still falling asleep at the keyboard. School 9-1, work 1-4, hour commute before and after. I do believe it's making me less useful. ~~Sigh~~ On the plus side, I'm finally reading books by Charles de Lint, three quarters of the way through Dreams Underfoot, it's beautiful. I get off work early tomorrow, 1:30pm, class on fridays 9-12, so, an hour and a half of work, then Free. . . If only I knew what I was doing with the rest of that day, and had some assurance I wouldn't just head home and hit the sack.

couchSleeper

Third or fourth night sleeping on the couch. New Bed successfully installed in my room, but lacks kickass Drew's mattress, plus, soon there will be even More furniture moving. Hello, couch. My furniture may be too big for my room, it's just Odd. Making room for my fiance, in the house of my childhood, and my (new black wood)bed and chest of drawers, might crowd him OUT of the room. And, honestly, the chest of drawers(plus armoire that's coming later)were to give him storage space.... even after purging myself of five garbage bags of clothes, and two grocery bags of shoes, adding a shoerack and a second hanging bar, my clothes fill my closet to Ultimate Capacity. Perhaps there will be a massive switch, and all of My clothes will move into the massive black furniture, and Drew will take possession of the closet. If only I could rearrange the furniture to the point where it doesn't make the room feel small! In my heart, I don't care what I put my clothes in, as long as I can have bookcases EVERYWHERE! At this rate, I won't be able to fit even One bookcase in my room, and that's just Wrong. Better to sleep on the couch, than in a bedroom without bookcases. My back hates the couch. My back hates moving furniture. My brain hates spatial relations, and I don't KNOW how to fit things into space in a room. I need to go through my clothes and books again, and More, so I can make a space, room for Drew, so it can be OUR room, not Mine. I Want the Armoire, and I Want the Chest of Drawers, and I Want to be more organized. But really, I want to know what Drew wants, so I can give it to him. I want to give Drew everything he wants, but I don't know how to make a home, what makes a home? So for now I'm making Space, and sleeping on the couch. ((God, I want a bookcase!)

No wonder it hurts to walk, me and my soft velcro sport brace, sprained ankle my foot! ~~ouch, that pun was unintentional~ Now I'm in a solid orthopedic boot, and have a referral to see an orthopedist next week. YAY! More Modern Medicine!

Whoops!

So, last night I auditioned for the school musical. There was a singing portion, and a "movement" portion. In rehearsing the dance steps, for the eighth time, there was a spin, and a leap forward (right after the Charleston) everything went well up till the eighth runthrough, when I leaped, and landed, Squarely, on the Side of my foot. My ankle turned under, and TIMBER! Down I went. Then, because I'm a trooper (read Idiot)I got up, ignored the swelling, did the dancing for the Director, waited my turn, did the singing for the Director, and walked out to the car. Where I promptly burst into tears from the pain in my foot. So, yeah, propped it up, put ice on it, managed one class on crutches today, and went to the doctor this afternoon. It's either a REALLY bad sprain, or a mild fracture. X-Rays are tomorrow. But hey, my Voice was great!
**Sighs**

argh

There is something very very wrong with my computer. It's slowed down to the nth degree, and when playing music or video, it's painfully obvious, stretching sounds, images and songs into slow motion. Before it happened to the visuals, I thought it was the speakers, but Now it's global. Sigh. Sometimes it won't boot up. Greywolf, allura, HELP!
ps. I've lost my academic financial aid, I'm in hell.
